With the magic of technology, came virtual reality. Since we can no longer try testers in drugstores, I tested out drugstore and high-end virtual makeup to see how good it really is!
Urban Decay – All nighter foundation in the shade 7

I have a medium-deep complexion with a warm undertone and this foundation is full coverage with a matte finish, perfect for my oily acne prone skin. I did the try-on with makeup free skin, but the foundation had a pink undertone, and it enhanced my blemishes so it was the opposite effect. I think you’d have to try this in store, as it available in many shades.
NYX – Micro brow pencil in Espresso

This is my go-to brow product and I was pretty impressed by the VR comparison, going harder with the pencil would allow the shades to match. There’s so many options of brow shapes and colours to get the perfect match.
Maybelline Lash sensational in Black
Reality | Virtual
Maybelline is my favourite for mascara and the way the virtual version separated the lashes was accurate, but I WISH it made my natural lashes that long!
Mac Lipstick in Brick-o-la
Reality
My go-to lipstick colour is red with a brown undertone but this looks nothing like the reality, although I’m obsessed with the virtual colour!

Charlotte Tilbury – Lip Lustre in Sweet Stiletto

I’ve been living in lipgloss in lockdown but I cant wait for the day to put on lipstick for a night out again. This one is amazing, it’s a lot more sheer in real life but colour wise it’s a great comparison.
I think Charlotte Tilbury and NYX do these virtual try-ons really well but overall I’d prefer to go to wait until lockdown is over and try these products on for myself as some of the brands don’t do the products justice. I really enjoyed doing this post, look out for my next one!
